Which Manchester Test Centres Do We Cover?

Greater Manchester has several DVSA test centres across the city. Our crash courses are designed around the specific routes used at each centre, so you train on the exact roads your examiner will take you on.

Stretford / Trafford Test Centre (M32)

Serving: Old Trafford, Stretford, Urmston, Eccles, Salford. Our instructors know the Stretford test routes well — including the A56 Chester Road, Barton Road, and routes through Urmston. Pupils training with us for a Stretford test get intensive practice on the exact roads the examiner uses. Test day car hire at Stretford also available.

Wythenshawe Test Centre (M23)

Serving: Wythenshawe, Northenden, Benchill, Baguley, Sale, Altrincham. One of the busier Manchester test centres. Test routes often include the B5166 Altrincham Road, Wythenshawe Road, and Princess Road. Our Sale and West Didsbury instructors are ideally placed for Wythenshawe bookings. Test day car hire at Wythenshawe also available.

Gorton Test Centre (M12)

Serving: Gorton, Openshaw, Ardwick, Ancoats, Droylsden. Gorton Test Centre serves east-central Manchester. Routes typically include Hyde Road, Gorton Road, and the surrounding east Manchester road network. Our Cheetham Hill-based instructors cover this area.

West Didsbury Test Centre (M20)

Serving: West Didsbury, Didsbury, Chorlton, Withington, Fallowfield. We have instructors in the West Didsbury area who deliver crash courses tailored to the Didsbury test routes — including Palatine Road, Wilmslow Road, and surrounding south Manchester roads. Test day car hire at West Didsbury also available.

Hyde Test Centre (SK14)

Serving: Hyde, Denton, Dukinfield, Stalybridge. Close to our Ashton-under-Lyne coverage area, Hyde Test Centre is well within range. Our Ashton instructors regularly prepare pupils for Hyde and deliver intensive courses on the local road network. Test day car hire at Hyde also available.

  • 10 hours — £360

We assess your current level before recommending a course length. We won’t sell you hours you don’t need.

Manual or Automatic Crash Course in Manchester?

We offer both manual and automatic crash courses across Manchester at the same price — no premium for automatics. If you’ve struggled with the clutch or find gear changes distracting, an automatic crash course may be the fastest route to a pass. Our instructors will advise based on your ability and goals.

How Many Hours Does a Manchester Crash Course Take?

The number of hours depends on your starting level:

  • Complete beginner — typically 40–50 hours total; a 30–35 hour intensive course combined with some pre-course practice works well
  • Some previous lessons (10–20 hrs) — typically 20–30 additional hours to reach test standard
  • Previously failed test or returning driver — typically 15–25 hours focused on weak areas

We give you an honest assessment — not a sales pitch — before recommending a course length.

Why Choose Clear Lane for Your Manchester Crash Course?

National crash course providers like PassMeFast and LDC act as brokers — they take your money and assign a third-party instructor you’ve never met. You end up in an unfamiliar car, on routes the instructor may not know well, with test day car hire as a separate booking.

Clear Lane is different. We are a real Greater Manchester driving school with our own local ADI instructors and our own dual-control cars. Every crash course we run is delivered by someone who lives and teaches in the area — and test day car hire is included as standard, not an add-on.
